The only way I’m ever going to be able to paint people or other creatures is through tracing. This was the most extensive tracing I have done up until this point, and still is several months after I initially painted this. At first I wanted to paint a scene with this tiger in the snow to reflect the time of year it was when I started it and as a reflection of Itico. However, then the calendar rolled over to a pride day and so I decided to make the painting a reflection of that.
As you can see though the color in the painting is not a direct reflection of the pride flag and after I started colorizing the image I got some colors that are not represented in the flag. So, I gave up on that idea and just finished the painting with the colors I had rather than try and recolor the whole thing.
One Vermillion user complained that the color blending is not closely matched to real oil paints. I have no experience with that and I don’t know if they do either. However some of the users of the program, some people call it a game, are quite accomplished real world painters but they have not chimed in on the community. My opinion is that it appears real enough to me. You learn the quirks and move on. Still this has been a very enjoyable process.
